The Big Day

It’s been 4 weeks since our wedding day. We already got the photos a few days ago, so here are a few selections.

Our photographers joined us first thing in the morning. Naomi met the ladies at Rain and then returned to the hotel room (aka “staging area”), while Judy met the gentlemen at Farzad’s Barbershop then came to our condo where we got ready.

We were really unsure about the weather. We had a conference room booked at the hotel as a backup, but it wouldn’t have been anywhere as nice as being outside at Ron Basford Park. Luckily the weather held out and everything was great.

Everyone said “I do” at the right time, so it was a success! Then it was time for photos. We walked around Granville Island for some atmosphere while our guests were enjoying Beth’s scavenger hunt. Strangers said “congratulations” and the guy in line before us at JJ Bean bought us coffee (and tea, since I don’t like coffee). We admired the art, cavorted on the playground, and took a quick ride with False Creek Ferries.

Everyone managed to survive the 100 m trip from the park to the hotel lounge for our reception. The food and drinks were delicious, the speeches were touching and hilarious, the cake was beautiful (and, to Wendy’s surprise, adorned with birds), and most of all, the company was wonderful.

I think everyone enjoyed the photo booth too. A big thanks to Naomi and Judy for suggesting that and just taking care of everything.

Thanks to everyone for making our day so special!

Ceremony at 3:30, not 3:00

Hello everyone checking this web site obsessively in anticipation of our upcoming wedding! We’re changing the ceremony start time from 3:00 to 3:30. I know it said 3:00 on the invitations, but it just works out better for us to start at 3:30. We’ll send out an email notice.

The webcal link on the main page (and below) has been updated too. I don’t know if anyone actually uses that, though.

Dinner on Granville Island

We walked around Granville Island today to double check a few things and had a delicious dinner at Edible Canada. The Island always has a great atmosphere and plenty of things to see and do, so we were once again reassured that we picked the right place for our wedding.

We sent most of the invitations this week and updated the web site with enough information to hopefully make it useful.

Some more recent pictures of Mipsy

Mipsy’s nearly a year old now and our last post just had pictures from before we adopted her. Here are some from the past few months.
